Open Studios during the 2009 Festival

albrightViv Albright

Working in Japan over the last five years has enabled me to focus and develop drawings, paintings and mixed media which are part of a current series. The series ‘BodyMaps’ records a dialogue with nature and architecture used here as a metaphor for acceptance and belonging in each culture.

boothPhil Booth

The majority of my work is a reaction to observations of the landscape or things I find in the landscape. The latter in particular often become vehicles for exploring questions about our relationship with the natural world. I make sculpture, relief works, small constructions and works on paper.

ashworthBasma Ashworth

I love the tactile quality of paint; the creative process for me is about manipulating the paint so that texture and colour become the more exciting element than the image. My work is not about theme but about the process of painting. The paintings emerge from my interaction with paint and colour.

art groupLamorna Kerr Art Group

Lamorna Birch’s daughter ‘Mornie’ Kerr, started painting classes in Lamorna in the 1950s, firstly in the village hall and later at Flagstaff. Exhibitions were always held at Lamorna and this tradition is continued today. It is a thriving and lively group with a growing membership who are encouraged to develop their own styles and skills, often painting ‘en plein air’.
