About the Lamorna Valley Group
Lamorna has attracted artists and writers for generations but within the last decade there has been a new surge in creativity with a proliferation of artist studios dotted all along the sides of the beautiful Lamorna Valley. In 2009 the first Lamorna Arts Festival celebrated

The Lamorna Valley Group aims to encourage the growth and development of the arts in the Valley area by exhibitions and events which give valued exposure to rural and often isolated artists, bringing them to the attention of the wider community, regionally and nationally.
“When The Lamorna Society first offered to sponsor the Festival, we were a disparate group of artists who barely knew each other, but we realized that through the process of all the planning and hard work we had become a community - the new Lamorna Colony. With the Festival out of the way, we are all now looking forward to not only having some fun together, but building upon the rich resource of our mutual skills, knowledge and experience that will lead to further exciting exhibitions."
Artists at work in Lamorna include some who have successfully exhibited in top galleries and sold their work internationally, to others who are relatively unknown outside of Cornwall and still trying to establish their reputations. Like those of the original art colony, many have been drawn here, not only by a natural environment that is still wonderfully suited to the creative mind, but also by the equally natural desire to live and work amongst other creative people. Their diverse work ranges from painting, sculpture and ceramics, to mixed media, photography, letter carving and stone carving. Some work in traditional styles, whilst others are exploring the outer boundaries of creativity.
